Robert of Courtenay began as the second son of Peter and Yolande who pursued a careful journey through Germany and along the Danube to avoid his father's misfortunes. Crowned by the patriarch in the cathedral of St. Sophia, his reign became an era of calamity and disgrace for the Latin Empire. His amorous nature led him to neglect his Greek bride in favor of a beautiful maid from the noble family of Artois, ultimately resulting in violent consequences that marked his brief imperial career.

Description

A young adult emperor of Latin Constantinople, bearing the features of French nobility with the imperial regalia including crown and ceremonial robes appropriate to his station. His appearance reflects both the dignity of his imperial position and the volatility of youth, with the bearing of one born to nobility but perhaps not yet tempered by the full weight of sovereignty. His presence commands attention while suggesting the passionate nature that defines his character.
