Naulobatus was chief of the Heruli who accepted honorable capitulation and entered Roman service with a large body of his countrymen. He achieved the unprecedented distinction of being invested with consular dignity, marking the first time such Roman honor had been granted to barbarian hands.
Description
A barbarian chieftain whose appearance reflects both his tribal origins and his new Roman status. His attire combines elements of Heruli warrior dress with the consular insignia that marks him as the first of his people to receive such Roman dignity.
