Leontius began as an Athenian philosopher who educated his daughter Athenais in Greek religion and sciences, passing on the classical learning that would later help her become Empress Eudocia. His life took a darker turn when political ambitions led him to become a general, only to be dethroned and mutilated by his rival Apsimar, the amputation of his nose marking both his fall from power and the brutal realities of Byzantine politics.
Description
An Athenian philosopher with distinguished features and olive skin, his graying hair and beard giving him the appearance of scholarly wisdom. He wears simple philosopher's robes and carries scrolls, though his face bears the visible marks of political violence, his nose having been amputated as punishment for his ambitions.
