Harmozan served as a Persian satrap until the Arab conquests swept through his lands. Captured and despoiled of his silken robes and jeweled tiara, he was paraded as a naked captive before Omar. In exchange for his life, he offered rings and bracelets, and upon converting to Islam, he received pardon and a stipend.
Description
Harmozan appears as a middle-aged Persian nobleman of olive complexion and dark hair and beard, his build neither slight nor heavy. Stripped of his silken robes embroidered with gold and his tiara studded with rubies and emeralds, he stands naked, holding rings and bracelets in his hands.
