Hadrian proved himself a ruler of extraordinary range, equally at home with the grandest imperial policies and the minutest details of civil administration. His ruling passions—curiosity and vanity—shaped a reign that swung between excellence and excess. He was by turns an excellent prince, a ridiculous sophist, and a jealous tyrant, leaving behind a legacy as complex as his own nature.
Description
A man whose vast and active genius is reflected in his commanding presence and intellectual bearing. His features suggest someone equally comfortable with grand visions and minute details, his imperial bearing tempered by an almost restless curiosity.
