Cunimund ruled as king of the Gepidae during a period of intense conflict among the Germanic tribes. His reign ended violently when he was killed by Alboin, after which his skull was fashioned into a drinking cup—a grim testament to the brutal nature of tribal warfare in 6th century Europe. He was also father to Rosamond, whose own story would become intertwined with the violent politics of the period.
Description
A mature man with the dignified bearing appropriate to Germanic kingship. His features reflect both the authority of tribal leadership and the harsh realities of 6th century warfare among the Germanic peoples. He wears the traditional regalia of a Gepidae king, with distinctive elements that mark his royal status among the tribes of central Europe.
