Aureolus emerged as one of the nineteen tyrants who rose against Gallienus, invested with the imperial purple by his army on the Upper Danube. Disdaining the confines of his initial reign, he boldly passed the Alps and occupied Milan, expanding his claim through military force. His ambitions ended when he was defeated in battle, wounded, besieged in Milan, and ultimately executed after surrender.
Description
Aureolus presents the hardened appearance of a frontier commander, his stocky build shaped by years of military service on the Danube frontier. His features are weathered from constant campaigning, and he wears the imperial purple with the practical bearing of a soldier rather than a courtier. There's nothing refined about his presence—he carries himself as a man of action who claimed power through army loyalty rather than noble birth.
