Across The Hierarchy series, the humble wax tablet and stylus evolve from a simple tool of covert communication into a symbol of resistance and memory. Initially introduced as a practical means of recording fleeting information, these erasable implements become central to clandestine operations, allowing characters to share secrets without leaving permanent traces. As the series progresses, the tablets' limitations and strengths are tested in increasingly high-stakes scenarios, transforming them from mere accessories into instruments of rebellion and survival.
