The Forest emerges as a living, sentient entity that begins as an enigmatic, impenetrable wilderness in the first book and gradually reveals itself as a conscious force with its own agenda. Across the series, it evolves from a passive backdrop into an active participant in the Hierarchy's power struggles, developing the ability to communicate, manipulate events, and even reshape reality itself. Its transformation from mysterious woodland to a pivotal character fundamentally alters the series' understanding of power, nature, and the boundaries between the physical and metaphysical worlds.
