The Suus Tunnel System begins as a utilitarian, flood-prone network of slick-stone passages beneath the Suus palace, harbor, and tombs, serving as a hidden artery for movement and intrigue. Across the series, it transforms from a mere logistical route into a strategic battleground and symbolic nexus of rebellion, where key confrontations and revelations reshape its purpose and perception. Its evolution mirrors the growing stakes of the Hierarchy’s power struggles, culminating in its role as both a sanctuary and a trap.
