The Suus Clifftop Paths begin as treacherous, salt-sprayed walkways clinging to the sheer cliffs of Suus, serving as both scenic routes and perilous shortcuts for the island’s inhabitants. Across the series, these paths evolve from mere geographical features into strategic arteries of movement, espionage, and rebellion, their narrow ledges witnessing everything from quiet contemplation to desperate escapes. As the Hierarchy’s grip tightens, the paths become symbolic of the island’s precarious freedom, their drops mirroring the ever-present threat of falling from favor. By later books, they are no longer just routes—they are battlegrounds, memorials, and the last bastions of Suus’s defiant spirit.
