Floo Powder is the glittering magical powder that powers the wizarding world's Floo Network, turning ordinary fireplaces into portals when thrown into the flames and erupting in roaring emerald fire. Harry's first, disastrous attempt to use it at the Burrow in Chamber of Secrets sends him tumbling into Knockturn Alley instead of Diagon Alley, a vivid lesson in the importance of clear pronunciation. By Goblet of Fire, the powder has become a familiar if still chaotic tool, most memorably when the Weasleys use a temporarily connected Floo link to burst out of the boarded-up Dursley fireplace, leaving wreckage and fury in their wake.
