Moaning Myrtle's Bathroom is an out-of-order girls' lavatory on the first floor of Hogwarts, haunted by the ghost of Myrtle, a student killed there by the Basilisk fifty years earlier. Shunned by students because of its weeping resident, it becomes the secret workshop where Harry, Ron, and Hermione brew Polyjuice Potion and, more momentously, the hidden entrance to the Chamber of Secrets, concealed beneath a sink marked with a tiny snake. Though the trio no longer needs it after the Chamber is closed, it remains a recurring refuge and source of help, as when Myrtle drifts in on Harry in the prefects' bathroom to nudge him toward solving the golden egg's clue.
