King's Cross Station is the grand Victorian railway terminus in London whose ordinary bustle conceals the magical gateway to Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, where the Hogwarts Express departs each September. For Harry, it first marks the threshold between his drab Muggle life with the Dursleys and the wizarding world, and it remains the annual point of departure and return across his school years. Over the series it shifts from a place of bewildered wonder, through mishaps like a sealed barrier, to a familiar, bittersweet crossing point between two worlds.
