Greenhouse Three is one of the Herbology greenhouses on the Hogwarts grounds, reserved for more interesting and dangerous plants than the first-years' Greenhouse One. Harry's class first enters it in his second year, when Professor Sprout teaches them to repot screaming Mandrakes amid Venomous Tentacula and damp compost. Those Mandrakes later become essential, because they are brewed into the restorative draught that revives the Basilisk's petrified victims. By Harry's fourth year it has become a routine stop on the Herbology timetable, a familiar backdrop to school life rather than a place of novelty.
