The Great Hall is the grand heart of Hogwarts Castle, a vast chamber with four long House tables, a staff table, and an enchanted ceiling that mirrors the sky outside. It is where first-years are Sorted, and where the school gathers for feasts, announcements and celebrations. Across the first four books it changes from a place of wonder for the newly arrived Harry into a stage for Hogwarts' most dramatic communal moments. In Goblet of Fire it hosts the Goblet of Fire itself, the selection of the Triwizard champions and the Yule Ball, and it ends the year in mourning as Dumbledore honors Cedric Diggory.
