Lily Potter, née Evans, is Harry's mother, a gifted Muggle-born witch whose death at Voldemort's hands is the founding act of the series. In the first book she is a remembered absence: her sacrifice to shield baby Harry left behind an ancient love-based protection that burns Quirrell's touch and keeps Harry alive. By Goblet of Fire she returns briefly as a shadowy echo from Voldemort's wand during the graveyard duel, urging her son to escape. Across the series her sacrificial love proves to be the force Voldemort never understood and can never overcome.
Description
A beautiful witch with long dark red hair cascading softly and striking bright green eyes that shine with intelligence and warmth. Her fair skin and delicate features give her a graceful, slender appearance. Typically envisioned in elegant witch robes, her presence conveys gentle kindness laced with inner strength. Lily appears as a young woman with long hair, rendered in the graveyard as a smoky, shadowy, ghostlike figure. Her outline is softly indistinct, as though formed from wandlight and memory rather than solid flesh. The text does not specify her hair color, complexion, eye color, build, facial details, or clothing, so those features should remain undefined.
