Fang is Rubeus Hagrid's enormous black boarhound, a dog whose fearsome size and long teeth belie a thoroughly cowardly and affectionate nature. Introduced in the Forbidden Forest, where he bolts in terror from a hooded figure, Fang becomes a fixture of Hagrid's hut over the following years, cowering from spiders and fireworks yet barking gamely at intruders. By the time of the Triwizard Tournament he is a beloved, slobbering companion who greets Harry with exuberant licks. Throughout, he mirrors his master's gentle heart beneath an intimidating exterior.

Description

Fang is a large black boarhound, his shaggy coat deep as midnight over a massively muscular frame. Long yellowed teeth protrude prominently from powerful jaws, paired with wary yellow eyes in a broad head. He lumbers with heavy paws, tongue lolling and drool trailing, a hulking presence both fearsome and timid. Massive boarhound with shaggy fur and powerful build. Large head often rests timidly on a knee or lap, or positioned at heels. His expression mixes loyalty with apprehension, barking loudly when roused. Fang is an enormous black boarhound, a large, powerful dog with a dark coat and an imposing outline. His broad, substantial build is softened by his open, friendly manner and lively movements. He often appears close to Hagrid, barking or bounding about with his tail wagging, his formidable size made endearing by his eager, affectionate presence.
