Meyer Wolfsheim, Gatsby's gambler associate and fixer of the 1919 World Series, luncheons with Nick in speakeasies, his bulbous fingers and nostril hairs marking him as a sentimental gangster loyal to Jay even after the murder. He stands solemnly in doorways, eyes tearing at the news, refusing to attend the funeral out of fear. His tiny eyes and molar cuffs personify the corrupt undercurrents fueling Gatsby's rise.
Description
A small, flat-nosed man with a large head and two fine growths of hair luxuriating in his nostrils. Tiny eyes peer from half-darkness, cuff buttons of human molars, tragic nose that trembles, bulbous fingers held out solemnly.
