Jikininki first appear in the Iron Tangle as Level 17 ghouls dressed in the tattered uniforms of long-dead conductors, their porcelain-clinking nails and shredder mouths making them both grotesque and strangely formal. By Book 8 they have resurfaced as generic tall skeletal undead, stripped of their janitorial costumes yet still marked by the ceaseless chatter of their teeth—an evolution that suggests the dungeon has re-skinned the same template for new, less theatrical purposes.
