The Iron Tangle is the third floor of the World Dungeon, a sprawling, maze-like web of railways, trains, and stations that Carl, Princess Donut, and their allies must navigate under the pressure of a ticking clock. After the crawlers survive it in Book 3, the Iron Tangle becomes a touchstone of shared trauma and experience, a benchmark against which later convoluted floors are measured. Its legacy echoes into Book 8, where a tangled iron transit network resurfaces as a recurring feature, showing how the dungeon recycles and twists its earlier designs.
