Earth is the homeworld of humanity and of every crawler forced into the World Dungeon. At the start of the series, the Borant Corporation collapses the planet's surface structures and converts it into the multi-floor dungeon, as part of a galactic reality-show production run by the Syndicate. By The Butcher's Masquerade it is remembered as humanity's destroyed homeworld, a lost place that drives the survivors' grief and defiance. By A Parade of Horribles it remains the crawlers' home planet in name and identity, and its fate under galactic law and corporate ownership is a central stake of Carl's struggle.
