The slugs emerge in successive iterations, growing more formidable as their levels rise and acquiring strange details such as facial paint and a hatchet glued to one side. Their squeals and sudden attacks turn them into an unruly, comic threat. One hatchet-bearing slug meets its end when Mongo eats it.

Description

A thumb-sized slug with a short, soft, low-slung body and a mouth of sharply jagged teeth. Its appearance is odd and unsettling, all slick creature texture and an unexpectedly fierce little maw. Some versions bear paint on the face, while another has a hatchet glued to its side, giving the tiny body a makeshift, ridiculous menace.
