The Chipmunks are mentioned only as the source of a Christmas song playing at the party. They have no further role in the events of the book, but their jaunty music adds a brief, familiar touch of holiday levity to the scene.
Description
The Chipmunks are a small group of compact animals with warm brown fur and pale undersides, their backs marked by distinctive dark-and-light stripes. They have rounded ears, bright eyes, fine whiskers, and nimble paws. Their alert, lively bearing gives them a playful, energetic presence; no clothing or accessories are specified.
