Monobrow Sam is a figure from Carl's life before the collapse, remembered as both his friend and his landlord, whose distinctive unibrow earned him a nickname that even soured one of his past romances. In The Eye of the Bedlam Bride, Sam's likeness resurfaces in grotesque form as one of the hydra's heads, turning his defining feature into a literal death ray aimed at Carl's party. The fact that the real Sam died in the collapse gives the encounter an eerie, personal sting. By This Inevitable Ruin he lingers only as a passing memory, a man whose favorite songs included "Break Stuff."
Description
Sam appears in hydra-head form, though the text gives no precise details of his scales, colors, eyes, or overall anatomy. His defining feature is a monobrow, the source of the nickname that clung to him. He is associated with a death-ray attack, but no attire or other visual markers are specified.
