The baby monk seals appear as a pile of dead pups on a corpse-strewn beach. Their bodies matter to Raul the crab, who needs to see them in order to perform, making the grim sight part of a larger, strange ritual. The text offers no individual identities or further arc for the seals.
Description
The seals are described collectively as dead baby monk seals gathered on a beach strewn with corpses. No precise markings, fur color, size, or individual features are given. Their smallness and stillness are the defining visual impression, set against the stark, desolate shore.
