The Ninecloud Court is the vast, jewel-lit seat of power in the Blackflame Empire's sphere, first glimpsed in Unsouled as an impossibly grand royal court glittering with golden light, a distant symbol of the heights of sacred arts power far beyond Sacred Valley. Its prominence returns in Uncrowned, where the Ninecloud Court hosts the Uncrowned King tournament, the grand contest that gathers the most promising young sacred artists of the continent under the gaze of the Monarchs. Over the series it transforms from a dreamlike vision of unreachable grandeur into a real stage where Lindon and his companions fight for recognition among the world's elite.
