Scientific Fiction appears as a blue, wavering corpse climbing from a fresh grave, armed with devices as extravagant as an Atomic Saw and a Neutrino Digger. Before setting out toward the bus stop in the evening rain, she activates a Beautiful Appearance Generator to conceal her deathly coloring beneath a more beautiful guise. Her passage from the grave into ordinary public space turns the figure into a rueful, vivid personification of a genre struggling to present itself attractively.
Description
Scientific Fiction is depicted as a woman with bluish, corpse-like skin and a wavering, unsteady posture. Her eerie appearance carries the unmistakable suggestion of someone newly risen from the grave, while futuristic devices—including an Atomic Saw and a Neutrino Digger—make her silhouette strange and mechanical. She also has a Beautiful Appearance Generator, which can hide her pallor beneath a more appealing guise. No specific details are supplied about her hair, eyes, facial structure, or clothing.
