The Bargain Tattoo is the swirling, eye-marked ink that appears on Feyre Archeron's left hand and forearm after she strikes a desperate deal with Rhysand Under the Mountain: his healing of her shattered arm in exchange for one week per month at the Night Court. Initially a brand of debt and apparent ownership, it becomes in the second book a lifeline. Through it Rhys can sense Feyre's distress, it lets the two communicate, and it pulls her away from the Spring Court. After Feyre and Rhysand are revealed as mates and the bargain is fulfilled, Feyre chooses to keep the tattoo, turning a symbol of coercion into one of love and partnership.
